Final Blog Post

           Let's refresh our memories. What is social science? Social science is a major category of academic disciplines, concerned with society and the relationships among individuals within society. So, yes it is important for social science research to be accessible, relevant and understandable to the people who have no sociological background. Personally, I believe that as a human being we all have relationships with people, and just go about things a certain way and we should want to know why we move through our society with our everyday lives.
           In order for social sciences to connect with the public, social scientists have to learn how to communicate to those who have no background on the topic or issue. Research questions should be something that people who be interested to learn about. I do not think the design needs to change much, but I do think it needs to be simplified for those who do not know all the terminology. Terminology is the biggest issue in making it relevant, I say this because it could be someone searching the web for something they need to learn about, and if its not understandable then why would they continue to read about it.
            This class has been useful, because it opened my eyes as to why topics that deal with how we move through our society are important not only to me as a sociology major but also to those on the outside.
